The parliamentary monarchy of Spain in southwestern Europe occupies the greater part of the Iberian Peninsula and is bound on the north by France and Andorra and on the west by Portugal. The Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa are governed as provinces of Spain. The country also administers two small exclaves in Morocco - Ceuta and Melilla - as well as three island groups near Africa. The sunny disposition of Spanish weather and the exuberance of Spaniards has always attracted a steady inflow of tourists from the cold and clammy countries of northern Europe.
